The 2023 Canwest International Research Congress, held in Madrid, Spain, centered on fostering international research collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange. Professor Latif Ladid presentation focused on the transformative role of blockchain in the global food supply chain, aligned with the objectives of the CITIES2030 project. The presentation highlighted how blockchain addresses challenges like food safety, waste reduction, inefficiencies, and counterfeit products by ensuring transparency, trust, and efficient tracking. Integrated with IPv6, blockchain provides scalability and secure connectivity, aligning with CITIES2030’s vision of leveraging innovative technologies to build smarter, more sustainable food networks capable of meeting growing global demands.
