As part of the three-day event Cities2030 Food Festival, which began on September 25th with an international conference, the second and third days, September 26th and 27th, were held at the “Novo Čiče” Ethno Village. The program was aimed at primary school and vocational high school students and included rich culinary experiences, educational workshops, and hands-on activities as well as a Partner trip to the famous market Dolac in the center of Zagreb.
Highlights of the Day:
- Cities2030 Partners: Culinary High School students learned about Interesting and Traditional Dietary Habits from various partner countries.
- Association Gastronomadi: Students participated in a lecture and discussion on Food Waste Reduction in Hospitality Fields and Schools, offering valuable insights into sustainability practices.
- Food Preparation Workshop: Culinary schools and partners hosted demonstrations, including:
- Ivana Belošević hands-on workshop on how to prepare the local delicacy Štrukli.
- A fun, hands-on session where kids and partners made bread the traditional way.
- The preparation of the traditional meal “Kotlovina,” a favorite among locals.
- The unique experience of making Fish on Sticks, is enjoyed by both kids and adults.
Friday was reserved for a field trip to the center of the capital of Croatia, Zagreb, where Partners visited Dolac, Zagreb’s iconic farmers market in the city center, followed by a tour of several gastro spots around the city.
This three-day Food Festival in Croatia was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate traditional foods, sustainability, and the joy of learning new culinary skills!
