Matís is an Icelandic, governmentally owned, non-profit R&D company working in the field of food and biotechnology. We work on a variety of projects in the food industry, with an emphasis on innovation and added value. The projects are carried out in close collaboration with food producers, universities, and all those who in some way provide services to the food industry, both within Iceland and abroad. Our role is to strengthen the competitiveness of Icelandic products and the Icelandic economy, while ensuring food safety and sustainable use of the environment through research, innovation and services, and improving public health. Iceland is renown for its pure nature and Matís aims to utilize the opportunities that lie within to create healthy food with positive properties and with sustainability as a guiding principle.
