ttz Bremerhaven (TTZ) is an innovative provider of research services in the field of application-oriented research and development. Under the umbrella of ttz Bremerhaven, an international team of experts is working in the areas of food, environment, and health. TTZ is coordinating the Living Lab in Bremerhaven.
Verein zur Förderung des Technologietransfers an der Hochschule Bremerhaven e.V. (TTZ) was founded in 1987 in Bremerhaven, Germany as an independent non-profit organisation to serve as practical oriented link between the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven and the regional economy. TTZ is an innovative provider of applied research and development, customer-oriented training, and technology transfer services. Today TTZ is employing a multicultural and multidisciplinary staff of approx. 50 employees (scientists, engineers, and technicians) working in the field of food technology, biomass production and recovery, aquaculture and water treatment, consumer science and process technology. TTZ is a highly recognised R&D service provider for private companies, mainly SMEs. TTZ has coordinated and participated in the development, negotiation, implementation, and management of more than 400 European and international projects, ranging from small and medium-scale (with 6 to 10 partners) to large-scale projects (with more than 20 partners).
For the CITIES2030 project, the business unit “Food Technology” is responsible.
In the field of food technology, TTZ has experience in product development (bakery products, fish products, meat analogue, extruded products), chemical, nutritional and microbiological analysis, technological characterisation, sensory analysis and acceptance tests, process and facility development (including planning/execution of pilots, designing/constructing of prototypes), feasibility studies, cost-benefit analysis, etc. For more information, see: www.ttz-bremerhaven.de
In the CITIES2030 project, TTZ concentrates on the mapping and analysis of the local city region food system together with other CRFS members in order to enable the design, pilot, assessment, validation, dissemination, and multiplication of the Policy and Living Labs in Bremerhaven (Germany). Therefore, TTZ can rely on experience from the national project WSL(https://wissenschafftlebensraum.de/), an alliance for sustainable food production in Bremerhaven city and the surrounding countryside.
