On August 29, 2022, Vejle Municipality (P10) /Culinary Institute by Vejle Erhverv, proudly hosted the “Local Cooking” competition. This culinary contest was specifically designed for local restaurants in the Vejle region, with a primary focus on utilizing locally sourced ingredients from a variety of regional producers. The central objective of this competition was to create a dish that not only celebrated the flavors of these local ingredients but also narrated a compelling story that highlighted the unique connection between the producer and the chef. Furthermore, the event aimed to spotlight local producers who are actively contributing to a positive environmental impact.
A total of seven distinct restaurants enthusiastically participated in this competition, each diligently crafting a dish that authentically represented the essence of the locality. These culinary creations were presented before a distinguished panel of four judges, whose task was to assess not only the skillful use of local ingredients but also the artful storytelling embedded within each dish.
