On June 6, 2024, Quantitas, in collaboration with the University Ca’ Foscari and EPC, organized the event “SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEMS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM.” The event aimed to foster dialogue around the EU-funded CITIES2030 project, which unites researchers, entrepreneurs, civil society leaders, cities, and urban food ecosystem agents to develop a framework for analyzing and transforming food production, transportation, supply, recycling, and reuse systems.
For the first time, we presented data collected in the observatory to engage stakeholders and experts. Selma Vaska from UNIVE and Giuseppe Castiello from Quantitas provided an exhaustive overview of the data, which was gathered from a representative sample of 20 countries. The focus was on the five most populous countries, while ensuring a sampling error of less than 10% in less populous countries, assuming maximum variability and with a 95% confidence level. The research involved developing a platform to administer the survey in 18 languages.
The Cities2030 Observatory is designed as a collection of diverse content aimed at supporting policy design for implementing city region food systems (CRFS) across the European Union and beyond.
As a special guest, we invited Professor Maria Bruna Zolin, an expert in food security, to discuss key factors in food security. The participants showed great interest in the topic. Following the data presentation, we delved into various aspects of the project, such as blockchains and policies. The event successfully disseminated some of the project’s results to stakeholders and raised awareness about the urban food ecosystem.
In the end, refreshments were offered, allowing the conversation to continue flowing from the event.
