The ninth International Degrowth Conference held in Zagreb, from August 29 to September 2, 2023.
The conference brought together activists, artists, academics, practitioners, political representatives and the general public to explore possible ways of caring and resilience for people and the planet. The conference covered topics such as climate justice, alternative economies and transformational climate policy.
Partners from Vrije University, Amsterdam and Laba Velika Gorica joined forces and organised project presentations and a panel discussion on the topic of ‘Sustainable and justified transformations of urban food systems: The case of Velika Gorica’. Specifically, the session will be attended by Violeta Crnogaj and Blanka Kovač Walaitis from the Development Agency of the City of Velika Gorica – VE-GO-RA, Mario Konić from Inventivnih rješte d.o.o. and Stella Archontaki from IVM, Vrije University Amsterdam.
This panel discussion explored the characteristics and potential for the transformation of small city-regional areas. More precisely, he will use the example of Living Lab Velika Gorica – a city located next to the capital of Croatia. City-regional areas try to create small arenas of action through a co-creative process with citizens and local initiatives. Can the creation of city policy stimulate new synergies that meet the needs of citizens collaboratively and collectively?
