Futuro Mediterraneo: a project from Pollica to unite youth, culture, skills, and the Mediterranean Diet

The Paideia Campus in Pollica greeted 2022 by presenting an important project that will guide this 2023: Futuro Mediterraneo.

From the heart of Cilento, 200 students from various Cilento institutions gathered in Agropoli to begin outlining a multidisciplinary strategy to support 360-degree regenerative models of production, consumption, and living, starting with the crucial role of the younger generations and the Mediterranean Diet. Bringing together local governments, students, journalists, entrepreneurs, mayors, farmers, and the heroes of the Mediterranean Diet, 2023 for the Paideia Campus in Pollica begins to outline itself as follows:

  • in March 2023, in the “special edition” of IL GUSTO – the new multimedia hub that brings together Italy’s leading newspapers – “voices of the Mediterranean” will be released: the Mediterranean told precisely by Mediterranean youth, who will thus have the opportunity to enhance their communication skills and approach the world of journalism;
  • Live the Mediterranean photo challenge – a national contest in collaboration with IGERSITALIA and the Digital Academy of Pollica – to enable local students to tell the values of the Mediterranean way of life and their territory also through new media, such as digital photography, mobile photography;
  • in May 2023, some Cilento municipalities will host a community hackathon to make local kids active players in solving current challenges, bringing innovative business ideas to life, and learning new design and collaboration skills.

Futuro Mediterraneo is proof that Living Labs, like the one in Pollica, only work if they can create transdisciplinary synergies, embracing the territory organically, bringing young people closer to culture, innovation, and entrepreneurship, starting with the potential of the agribusiness sector.
